Dave Butler and Mick Bridgeland selected for England Team again. 12-10-11

Dave and I have both been selected to run for England again in the England/Scotland/Wales/NI/Ireland xc match in Glasgow on 26th Nov (me v50, Dave v55).

Mick Bridgeland

Dave and Mick were selected for last years event in Dublin where Mick finished 15th in the race (13th Vet 50), and Dave finished in 6th place to win the Vet 55 gold medal. Good luck to them both.

The Ravens City of London Running Club was started by four individuals from the London Insurance market: Phil Hernon, Andy Hayward, Ricky Goad and Bernie Tuck.

Whilst consisting primarily of London Insurance Market employees, anybody is welcome to participate in the daily structured training sessions. The group meets at 1.10 pm at the North East end of Tower Bridge, hence the adopted name of ‘Ravens’.

The structured training includes two speed sessions on a Tuesday and Thursday whilst the remainder of the week’s sessions consist of a steady group run, usually about 5 miles – sometimes longer, along the remarkably traffic-free courses.

The group has grown, since it originally formed in 1997, to nearly 35 runners, many of whom participate each lunchtime. The group consists of varying ages and abilities.

The success of the group is quite remarkable. Runners have trained and progressed with a group that is able to boast a Kent 10k Champion, numerous race winners, as well as runners who have represented their country at international level. There are many other successes within the group too.

There are regular ‘curry nights’ and we have our ‘Runner of the Year’ award, presented at the Christmas Ravens gathering.

We are a friendly and passionate group – feel free to come and join us.
